Dialogue 3: Dealing with Stress

Dan: I heard you passed out at work! Are you okay?

Mike: Yeah, I’m fine now. I just hadn’t eaten all day, and the heat didn’t help. One second I was standing, the next I was on the floor.

Dan: That sounds rough. Didn’t something like this happen last year too?

Mike: Kind of. Back then I broke out in hives from stress. I guess I don’t handle pressure well.

Dan: Man, you really need to take it easy. You’ve got to settle down and give yourself a break.

Mike: I know. But I keep on telling myself I can get through it, then something else comes up. Deadlines, meetings, more emails…

Dan: Maybe it’s time to move out of that job. You’ve been thinking about it, right?

Mike: Yeah. I’ve written down some ideas for starting my own business. Still trying to get over the fear of failure though.

Dan: Understandable. But sometimes things have to break up before better things begin.

Mike: That’s true. By the way, you’ll never believe who I ran into today.

Dan: Who?

Mike: Claire! From high school. She works in the same building. She let me in on some job opportunities at her company too.

Dan: That’s crazy! Small world. Maybe that’s your sign to make a move.

Mike: Maybe it is. I’m going to hang around the idea a bit more and see where it leads.
