Dialogue 2: Trouble with the Car

Lisa
: Ugh, not again! My car just broke down on the way here.

Tom: You’re kidding. That’s like the third time this month, isn’t it?

Lisa: Yeah. I don’t know what’s going on. It just started making noises, then completely stopped at the intersection.

Tom: Did you call for help?

Lisa: Yeah, the tow truck should come along in about 30 minutes. I left the car there and walked the rest of the way.

Tom: That’s frustrating. Did you ever point out those issues to the mechanic?

Lisa: I did, but they said they couldn’t find anything last time. I think it’s time I turn over the car to a different garage.

Tom: Probably a good idea. Want something to drink while you wait?

Lisa: Actually, I might just lie down on your couch for a bit. That whole situation stressed me out.

Tom: Go for it. Just be careful not to fall down—the rug’s all bunched up.

Lisa: Ha! One more thing going wrong and I’ll break down for real.

Tom: Don’t worry. You’re safe here. Just relax.
