Dialogue 2: At the Doctor’s
Sofia had been waiting anxiously for her medical test results. The previous year had been difficult, filled with hospital visits and long delays in treatment. When the doctor finally entered the room, she braced herself.
“Good news,” Dr. Patel began warmly. “We’ve seen a major improvement in your health. The medication is working.”
Sofia let out a deep breath. “That’s such a relief. But tell me honestly — is there a permanent cure for my illness?”
Dr. Patel shook his head. “Not yet. However, research shows promising results. Scientists are making progress in their search for solutions. What matters now is maintaining your lifestyle changes and keeping your belief in the process strong.”
Sofia nodded. “I know. Sometimes I feel frustration, even anger at how unfair illness can be. But then I remind myself of my family’s support. They show me so much respect for my struggles, and that gives me strength.”
The doctor smiled. “Exactly. And don’t forget, you’ve shown great success at following instructions and sticking to the treatment plan. That’s why you’re improving.”
As she stood to leave, Sofia added, “I’m grateful, and I want to make a formal apology for my impatience during earlier visits. I understand now that recovery takes time.”
Dr. Patel reassured her. “No apology is needed. Healing is a journey, and your continued involvement in it is what matters most.”
